Happy New Year!

With the begin of not only a new year, but a new decade, it is all the more important for womyn of colour to maintain and even increase our self-care practices.

We may not know for sure what this new year or new decade will bring, but we can always prepare ourselves to be able to better deal with whatever may come our way. That is why I believe that soul empowerment for our community is more important than ever. And I am more than delighted to share what I have learned on my life’s journey with others. Holding space for other womyn of colour to explore their own soul’s empowerment brings me great joy.

For all those that are interested in the work that we have been doing, I am offering an Alchemy of Resistance workshop in January 2020. In addition, the Circle of Oyá will resume as of February 2020 in a bi-monthly fashion. For more details on this, please see the Circle of Oyá page.

Surrender to The Flow

As this year is slowly coming to an end, many of us are taking inventory of these past weeks and months and are asking ourselves, what did we manage to accomplish? And what still remains on our “to do” list for 2019? The build up to the holidays and the end of the year makes many of us so frantic and frazzled that we often do not know whether we are coming or going. Let alone taking the time to breathe.

During these times, it is really necessary to make an effort to remember to take a breath and “surrender to the flow”. Surrender does not mean in this context giving up or just giving in. Instead, it means creating a space within ourselves where wonderful things can manifest- if we just allow it.

The ability to inhale and exhale is a great gift that our magnificient bodies give to us constantly. But, often we are so busy and stressed that we become unaware that our breathing impacts all that we think, say and do. And living in a city like Berlin with all of its challenges, certainly does not help. Nevertheless, I believe that every challenge brings its’ own solution. And taking a moment to breathe is one of them.

During every Circle of Oyá session we always begin with breath work. Why? Because it clears our minds and allows us to find our center so that we can begin our self-care work and rituals in a balanced and grounded state, as well as from a place of joy.

By taking the time to follow and be guided by the natural rhythmic and relaxed flow of our breath, it becomes possible to experience a feeling of peace and calm that will allow us to “surrender to the flow” of all that which wishes to come our way and offer us support.

So, as the frenzy of the last weeks and days of 2019 descend upon all of us; let us remember to breathe and make “surrender to the flow” our personal mantra and see where it takes us.

Wishing you all a fabulous week!

Happy Full Moon in Aries!

All beings on this planet are affected by the phases of the moon. And this full moon in the sign of Aries on 13 October 2019 is a powerful one! The full moon points not only to the completion of a lunar cycle, but can also show us what in our lives has or is coming to some type of conclusion.

According to many astrologers, this full moon will bring relief from much of the tension that many of us have been feeling these past weeks and months. The energy of this full moon in particular, beckons us to break free of anything that has been or is holding us back. Many will see things that no longer serve them suddenly crumble and disappear. Thus, clearing a path for something new and better to unfold. The energy of the full moon in Aries can assist us in becoming clearer about what we wish to create in our lives, and the to take the necessary steps to get there.

The period of the full moon from 10-19 October 2019 is also a wonderful time to practice any type of ritual(s) that can help us to break free from whatever may be preventing us from living our best lives.

In our monthly Circle of Oyá, I have and will continue to share several moon rituals that I have learned over the years and practice. For the next lunar cycle, I will post instructions for the upcoming new and full moon.

Wishing you all a “Happy New Moon “& stay tuned !

Happy Fall Equinox To All!

On this day, the Northern and Southern hemispheres experience equal amounts of sunlight. And if you live anywhere on the European continent; I am sure that you have noticed that the days are becoming noticeably shorter and the nights cooler. Summer is winding down and the time of the harvest is upon us. Not only is it time for the external harvest, but for the internal one as well. Pause , take a breath and look at your own your personal harvest. What have you been able to accomplish thus far? And what are you still working on?

I love to celebrate the Fall Equinox by lighting a candle, being still and giving thanks to Mother Nature for all of her bounty. I also thank myself for all that I managed to do, and give thanks for that which is yet to come.

So on this special night, allow yourself to take a minute, be still and think about the seeds you have planted this summer and what has blossomed. And love yourself for all that you have accomplished and make space for that which is yet to come!

Talking at The Table

Annapoorna, Pasquale and Melody at our “Kitchen Table Talk”

I would like to take a moment to give a big shout out to my magical Sistahs Melody Makeda Ledwon & Pasquale Virginie Rotter for being amazing guests at the first Alchemy of Resistance “Kitchen Table Talk” hosted by SUSI- Interkulturelles Frauenzentrum (Intercultural Woman’s Centre) in Berlin.

We had amazing heart-centred conversations that focused on self-care wisdom for Black & womyn of colour, spiritual practices and the importance of doing healing work and “creating spaces of loving kindness” in our communities.

Yesterday’s talk was a first in a series of talks planned for the winter of 2019 and in quarterly intervals in 2020.

I also would like to especially thank Sarina from WILDSUGA for her kindness and generosity. Sarina is an incredible artist based in the UK whose creative and spirit inspired work uplifts and highlights the beauty of Sistahs of colour. Thank you Sarina for allowing me to use your beautiful artwork for our FaceBook event invitation.

Today!

“Give every day the chance to be the most beautiful of your life”

“Gib jedem Tag die Chance der Schönste deines Lebens zu sein”

As I grow older, I have come to realise more and more that we really are not here that long. And while we are oh so busy with the mundane things of life, it is nevertheless very important to take some time out and create spaces for ourselves where we can tune out from the outer noise and tune into that space of quiet, peace and joy that resides in us all.

So, step back from all that you have to do today and just breathe ! Being aware of something as simple, but so vital as the breath can be a first step in making the most of every day.

So make this day the most beautiful one and breathe!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I would like to express my deepest thanks to the artist Menina Ekinerom for granting me permission to use her beautiful artwork on my blog.

Thanks Menina! I adore you!!!
